I’ve become very convinced over the last few months that to be a youth group that is growing, we don’t need to have the newest videos, the biggest budgets, or the most students…we need to have the most disciples of Christ. One of the biggest ways to do that is through service.
I can hardly believe it, but when I think back to my childhood, there were no opportunities to serve outside my local church. Our church didn’t do community outreach until I was an adult, we didn’t go on mission trips, and we didn’t even do much for those inside of our church. I would see other churches that were always actively engaged in mission work, and I would say to myself, “Oh, they are one of THOSE churches. Always fighting for good, always making a difference.”
What a blessing it has been to be a part of Crossroads for the past 4 years! We are establishing a culture in our church, and our youth group, that says, “Let’s go serve.” It doesn’t matter where or how, but we are going and serving and loving in the name of Jesus everywhere. So lets be THAT church!
