ReFuel in Review #5

Wednesday Small Group Series: Fresh Look at the New Testament: Life of Jesus.
Sermon in a Sentence: Jesus came to save the world from darkness, not condemn it.

Bible: John 3:1-21
Attendance: 48 Students!

Understandable Message: Nicodemus, a Pharisee, came to Jesus in the dark of night, acknowledging him as Rabbi and teacher.  Nicodemus was on the right track, but not all the way there.  "New Birth" means accepting Christ as savior and following him out of joy, not out of obligation.  It is up to us as believers to not only shed the dark parts of our lives, but to be lights in the darkness in our every day lives.

Element of Fun/Positive Environment: I spent some time splicing up a Superfriends YouTube video and came up with an announcement video.  I chopped it up, arranged the clips, added sound effects, and did voiceovers in about an hour.  It was hilarious!  I also had a really fun time giving the talk before we split up in small groups.

Opening Music Video: We've been starting out our services with some great music videos.  Lately, its been a lot of Gungor.  Tonight was a Rend Collective Experiment rendition of "Be Thou My Vision"

Worship: Our God, Hosanna, How He Loves

Media: We are demoing Simply Youth Ministry's "Tools."  We are most likley going to purchase it when the demo is up.  We had a laptop set up in the back for students to sign up for the "communicate" part of Tools.  Its a mass text service.  We're going to give it a whirl.
