Ever Failed at Reading the Bible in a Year?

I pray that I don't.  January began an incredible journey that has just begun.  At the urging of our pastor, David Rice, our church was challenged to really make scripture a big part of our lives.  I am a bit ashamed to admit that I've never been the best at regularly reading scripture.

January 1st, we kicked off the Robert Murray M'Cheyne Bible Reading Plan.  Robert Murray M'Cheyne was a Scottish Presbyterian minister and missionary who was famous for his devotion to the spiritual discipline of scripture reading and prayer.  He devised a plan where you read through the Old Testament once and the New Testament twice in a year.

I can easily say that this has been an amazing thing to undertake.  The goal is not to simply finish, but to learn and grow from what you read.  I've read much of this stuff in sections for my various classes, but its really awesome to work through whole books at a time.  The book of Romans has been particularly amazing!

When I look back, I am blown away by the fact that this guy (and anybody else following this plan) has read over 120 chapters of Scripture already!  We're over half way through Genesis...have completed Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Matthew...began Mark...finished Acts...and just began Romans!  Thats already more scripture than I've probably read in my lifetime!
